Concert of Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra for the East-West United Bank’s 45th anniversary
On September 15, the Luxembourg Philharmonic hosted the celebration of the 45th birthday of East-West United Bank, a friend and sponsor of the Kalinka Russian School, which has supported the school since its foundation in 2010.
The Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra, led by one of the best conductors of the time Valery Gergiev, came to Luxembourg to congratulate the bank’s employees, shareholders and customers. The concert by which the Philharmonic of Luxembourg opened its musical season was the main event of the evening dedicated to the anniversary of the bank. The date of the concert of classical music coincided with another important event in the cultural life of the Grand Duchy — the beginning of the new concert season of the Luxembourg Philharmonie.
The orchestra performed the prelude to Faun's Afternoon Rest by Claude Debussy, a suite from the opera The Golden Cockerel by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and the immortal Symphony No. 4 of Dmitry Shostakovich.
Immediately after the concert, employees and shareholders, as well as customers, friends and partners of East-West United Bank gathered in the lobby of the Philharmonia.
The event was attended by the highest persons of the Grand Duchy, such as the Prime Minister of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel and the Minister of Economics Etienne Schneider. Also among the invited were Fernand Etgen, Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg, Jean-Claude Knebeler, Ambassador of Luxembourg to Russia, Vladimir Evtushenkov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of AFK Sistema, as well as heads of large Luxembourg companies working with East-West United Bank.
The first to congratulate the shareholders and employees of the bank
was Jeannot Krecké, ex-Minister of Economics of Luxembourg and Chairman of the Board of Directors of East-West United Bank. He expressed gratitude to all employees of the company, mentioning his almost half-century history, as well as his enormous contribution to the strengthening of Russian-Luxembourg relations. In addition, Mr. Krecké thanked everyone for their attention to and trust in East-West United Bank.
Further, the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel, addressed the audience with a solemn word. In his speech, the Prime Minister noted that dialogue and building relationships are very important in the modern world, and East-West United Bank, whose very name reflects the mission of the association, is a good example of cooperation between Russia and Luxembourg.
The reception was concluded with a congratulation from the Chairman of the Board of Directors of AFK Sistema and the Honorary Consul of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Vladimir Evtushenkov.
This September evening, many more warm words were heard, and the Kalinka school team joins in all the congratulations and wishes East-West United Bank prosperity and success in the further development of Russian-Luxembourg relations.
