Tournament at Kalinka revealed the best school chess players
On Saturday, June 10, a chess tournament was held at the Kalinka Russian School. The Swiss system was used, and the competitors were divided into two groups according to their age: the group of children aged 8 years or younger and the group of 9-11 year olds. A total of 18 best school chess players took part in the tournament. Each age group played five rounds.
The tournament was attended by Nataliya Evtushenkova, member of the Board of Directors of our main sponsor East-West United Bank. She addressed the participants of the tournament with warm words and wished them further success in this fascinating game. Nataliya is an excellent chess player and she did not limit herself to the presence at the tournament, but also took an active part in it, playing some games with young chess players, thus giving the tournament a special significance and charm.
Group of children aged 8 years or younger (12 competitors).
1 place. Ortiz Bogdanov Santiago. 4 points.
2 place. Ortiz Bogdanov Pablo. 4 points.
3 place. Efimov Timofey. 4 points.
Three victories were gained by Kuptsov Vladislav, Casanova Zaychenkov Roman and Viguier Evan.
Group of 9-11 year olds (6 competitors).
1 place. Merkulov Timofei. 4,5 points.
2 place. Moallic Allexandre.
3 place. Kuptsova Ksenia.
Pavelek Mira and Viguier Elyan were also awarded special prizes.
School tournaments organised by Petr Selyanskiy give any young chess player an invaluable competitive experience, encourage children to continue studying the game and improving their skills.
